Secular untruth, Secular Circus

Truths You Must Know Before it is Too Late, P. Deivamuthu, Hindu Voice, pp 96,

The compiler of the book is editor of Hindu Voice and says that secularism is a new religion developed by the enemies of Hindus, Islam, Christianity, Communism, etc. The followers of this religion of secularism call themselves secularists, though the word is a misnomer because only “a State can be secular, not an individual”. He says that an individual can be a Hindu or a Muslim or a Parsi, a rationalist or an atheist, but not a secularist; “so, in effect, they are perverted secularists”.

In order to enlighten the naïve as also the perverted secularists, the compiler has formulated 650 questions. Though no point will be served in expounding upon each of the questions given, some very relevant ones will be quoted to give an idea to the reader about the ambiguity of the word ‘secularism’.

  • There are 57 Muslim countries but which Muslim country provides Haj subsidy?
  • Why is there no Uniform Civil Code for all citizens and all communities?
  • Why should Jammu and Kashmir have Article 370 and not Uttar Pradesh or Tamil Nadu?
  • AR Antulay was made a trustee of the Siddhi Vinayak Temple in Mumbai but can a Hindu become a trustee of a masjid or a madrasa?
  • According to the UN Charter the word ‘minority’ means people less than 10 per cent of the population, but in India 14 per cent Muslims are called a minority.
  • A Pakistani becomes Indian when he marries a Muslim girl in Jammu and Kashmir but if a Muslim girl marries a Hindu from any part of India, the husband cannot become a citizen of Jammu and Kashmir. Why?
  • Farooq Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir married a Christian, rejoiced at the marriage of his son Omar to a Hindu but disowned his daughter for marrying a Hindu. Is this secularism?
  • In which Muslim country there is a non-Muslim as its President or Prime Minister?

The compiler says that India has all along been a de facto Hindu nation though it has been ruled by Muslims and Christians for nearly 1,000 years. Even today India is a Hindu nation but with the continued stress on secularism, India may once again slip into the hands of forces inimical to democracy and secularism and who may rule India as dictators, enforcing their own religious dogmas upon the Hindus. It is thus the duty of every citizen to raise his voice against adharma. He says, “When dharma becomes a mute spectator as in Mahabharata, adharma will rule the roost, which will ultimately lead to Kurukshetra.”
